Virginia schools are a wonderful place to receive practical training in technical areas such as electronics. A good electronics program department furnishes students with modern equipment and examples of the current technology. Students benefit from an amalgamation of theory presentations in the classroom with extensive hands-on training in laboratories featuring the latest equipment. This kind of preparation makes transition to the job force less stressful, and increases a student’s likelihood of landing the job desired.
You may never have thought about it, but electronics programs are a fine avenue for student wishing to work as an electrician. This is true because the course work in an electronics program overlaps with equivalent classroom study in electrician training. For instance, most electronics programs will teach these core topics that are perfect for electrician training:
- A/C fundamentals including inductance, capacitance, and transformers
- Fundamental electrical theory including Ohm’s Law, magnetics, current, voltage, resistance, series and parallel circuits, relays, and solenoids.
- Hands-on laboratory use of power supplies, digital multimeters, computers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes
- Calculations using Ohm’s law and the power equations with the aid of a scientific calculator or laptop computer.
